MY STORY
2018
I became a teacher at the end of 2018, and in less than two years realized that, while I loved teaching, the emotional and financial exhaustion that came along with it just wasn’t for me.
So I went back to serving at a restaurant till I came up with another plan. I always loved making content with food, and when the opportunity to take over the social media for the restaurant I was working at presented itself — It was like my LIGHT BULB MOMENT. THIS IS WHAT I AM GOING TO DO —- I am going to become not only a social media manager, but a BUSINESS OWNER.
STARTED MY BUSINESS
2021
I was so excited to DIVE IN and build a business, but turns out doing it alone and from scratch can lead to a lot of problems. And it did. In my first year…
❌ I thought I needed to invest in things like fancy cameras, scheduling subscriptions, photoshop, content gadgets in order to succeed.
❌ I didn’t know what “client boundaries” were and that led me to working with a lot of high stress clients + toxic business situations.
❌ Systems?? What are those? I didn’t have a client process so not only was I confused in the beginning, but so were my clients.
❌ I scaled too quickly without knowing when/how to outsource so I was working 55+ hour weeks.
❌ I didn’t know how to do anything when it came to income as a 1099 and ended up owing over $25k in taxes in my first year because I didn’t save accordingly.
❌ I wasn’t able to retain high ticket clients, because I didn’t have a clear structure in my ability to create social media strategies
So… I had to take a step back and re-evaluate how I was going to build this business so it was not only SCALABLE💸, but… SUSTAINABLE. Burning out was not an option.
& NOW…
2024
✅ I have systems in place that allowed my business to scale to consistent +$25K months
✅ I outsource tasks to a small team of VA’s, and work about 25-30 hours a week in my social media management business
✅ I get to enjoy the perks of working when and where I want now that I am not spread so thin with my time + finances!
✅ I work with amazing small + mid-sized businesses and I have better client relationships than ever before.
✅ I focus on what actually matters: my services, my skills, my creativity, my systems (not my cameras and gadgets) to level up my client experience!
Alllll because I took steps back and re-evaluated and re-vamped everything I thought I knew by building this business from scratch… then I designed Scale School so you NEVER have to take MASSIVE steps back like I did and focus on 👩💼 🎉💸✨✈️ 😴💃
